One of the artists behind Myst is developing a new game, and it’s looking for funding on Kickstarter. Being developed by Eagre Games, Zed is a new adventure puzzle game that has players solving puzzles while exploring a dreamlike world.
Chuck Carter is the founder of Eagre Games and is also the Creative Director for Zed. Carter is an acclaimed artist that has lent his talents to many games including Command and Conquer, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, and of course Myst. He has provided art direction for shows likes Babylon 5 and provided illustrations for BBC, National Geographic, and NASA.
Zed takes heavy influence from Carter’s previous work in adventure games like Myst. The game takes place in the mind of a fading ‘dreamer’, a bizarre dream world filled with strange architecture and shifting landscapes. The player finds them self in this world trying to collect mementos in order to protect the legacy of the dreamers dying world. Players will have to solve puzzles, explore memories, and find clues that will lead them to each memento.
According to the Kickstarter, Eagre Games is looking for funding to help cover the costs of future production. This includes environmental art and optimization, marketing, music and sound design, hiring additional artists and programmers, and paying for Kickstarter rewards and fees. The studio has a goal of $48’000, with a series of stretch goals planned dependent on funds raised.
Zed has a tentative release date of first quarter 2017 on PC and Mac. You can check out some screenshots from the game below and you can visit the Kickstarter by clicking here.
