Firaxis Games, the developers behind last year’s well-received series revival XCOM: Enemy Unknown, seem to be already hard at work on their next project in the franchise. They’ve just released a teaser video at PAX indicating as such.
Seen below, the one minute teaser shows us another transmission from the ominous council representative who sounds like Optimus Prime (does he even have a name?), whom you’ll undoubtedly remember as having been featured in Enemy Unknown and its commercials. He mentions the presence of a powerful new enemy force working against Earth before quickly being quickly cut off, at which point the blue glow of the holoscreen turns orange. Spooky.
Some people are already speculating that this could be some sort of expansion pack or significant piece of DLC for Enemy Unknown, but given that the developer stated this was “their next big project,” we’re willing to bet that it’s an actual sequel.
Since Enemy Unknown was a reboot of the series, there’s the possibility that Firaxis is introducing their own take on an enemy faction that was present in the original series. I’m no X-COM expert, so do any of you guys have any idea what this new ‘force’ could be? Let us know, and stay tuned for more news on the XCOM franchise. Be sure to visit our new forums!
