Within the Cosmos, the upcoming sci-fi indie epic, is set to release next month.
Despite Within the Cosmos entering development over three years before the announcement of Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds, the games share significant aesthetic overlaps. For an indie title, Within the Cosmos boasts some stunning alien skyboxes and environments.
Within the Cosmos, though, appears to have a greater focus on its shooting mechanics, while still allowing for a wide margin of RPG-related gameplay.
Described as a “story-driven single-player first-person adventure game,” the game’s setting takes place in 2278. As one of the 500 people to work for the UESA (United Earth Space Agency), players must work to establish life on a planet called Berith II to ensure humanity’s survival.
While unravelling the mystery surrounding the disappearance of their crew, the game’s protagonist must explore Berith II and its surrounding planets to piece together what happened.
Even though the game has a small budget, Within the Cosmos appears to be a well-polished foray into the first-person adventure genre. For those interested, be sure to check the game out on IndieDB ahead of its May 31 release.
