With E3 fast approaching, can we expect The Last Guardian to show up based on an unconfirmed rumor?
Based on a rumor that Ravi Sinha wrote about on the website GamingBolt, a tweet by Arata seems to indicate that Team ICO’s The Last Guardian might be making a surprise appearance at E3 2014. Arata’s credibility stems from being friends with Fumito Ueda, who was the designer and director of The Last Guardian before later breaking off from Sony.
The tweet in question, written in Japanese and shortly thereafter deleted from Arata’s Twitter account , translates as: “I can not wait for the Steller’s sea eagle Toriko show of flesh-eating at # E3. I hope you are all doing well.”
In the news article, Sinha connects multiple dots to lead to concluding that The Last Guardian is implicated in Arata’s tweet. First, Sinha states that the Steller’s sea eagle is a large bird of prey. Sinha then goes on to state that “Toriko” in Arata’s tweet is also the name of The Last Guardian’s beast. The Stellar sea eagle is called “O-washi” in Japanese.
This is the cool part: The Japanese name of The Last Guardian directly translates as “Toriko, the man-eating eagle.”
Well? What do you think? Too convenient to be true? Or should we keep that little glimmer of hope for a PS4/PS3 remake of the Team ICO classic alive? Be sure to put in your opinion in the comments below!
