Werewolf: The Apocalypse

Cyanide Studios has added a third project to its upcoming slate, a video game adaptation of the classic RPG Werewolf: The Apocalypse.

While few details about the project have been announced, the available synopsis states that, as in the original game, players will take the role of a Garou (werewolf) warrior to battle against a supernatural force, called The Wyrm, determined to bring about the end of the world.

The game will be published by Cyanide’s long-term partner, Focus Home Interactive in association with the property’s owner Paradox Interactive.

Speaking about the potential of the title, Paradox’s Lead Story Teller, Martin Ericsson, said that it will “give gamers the opportunity to revel in the raw power and primal spirituality of the Garou.”

Werewolf: The Apocalypse is part of the World of Darkness universe, which also includes Vampire: The Masquerade and Hunter: The Reckoning, both of which have spawned several video games in the past.

More recently, EVE Online developers CCP were working on a World of Darkness MMO, however that was cancelled in 2014 with the assets later being purchased by Paradox Interactive.

Cyanide Studios is also currently working on a third game in its Of Orcs and Men franchise, called Styx: Shards of Darkness, and an adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s Call of Cthulhu, both of which are expected to release in 2017.

Werewolf: The Apocalypse has no release date as yet, but it is aiming for launch on PCs and consoles. More details on the game are expected to be revealed at Focus Home Interactive’s annual press event, which is scheduled to take place in Paris on February 1 and 2.
