The Assassin’s Creed III premiere has been advertised on Facebook, where the page claimed it would unlock the “first official gameplay” video from the upcoming Colonial-American historical fiction video game. And now Ubisoft Montreal has unveiled the promised video which contains moments of gameplay sections among the numerous cut scene segments.
In this video, the series’ new protagonist, Connor, takes on Redcoats and even a bear. The footage shows off some of the game’s physics engine as well as new weapons and abilities, like Connor’s talent for wrapping a noose around the neck of an unsuspecting soldier and using his body as a counterweight as he descends to the ground level to attack the rest of the opposition.
Still, this video doesn’t portray Assassin’s Creed III as unique enough to separate it from the redundant mechanics of the previous Assassin’s Creed games. Hopefully in the near future, Ubisoft will put forth some real evidence that Assassin’s Creed III is an original experience, and not merely the same game with a new coat of Colonial paint.
But, if the trailer and setting have you lined up for more adventures with Desmond Miles’ ancestors, Assassin’s Creed III releases on October 30th in North America.
