Watch Dogs 3 appears to be in the early stages of development, according to a series of clues by the developer and publisher Ubisoft.
The first clue is fairly inoffensive, as it takes the form of a practical April Fool’s joke, which allowed players to ‘hack’ Ubisoft’s UPlay service. Of course, Watch Dogs is a series built around hacking, so an April Fool’s day joke around this theme more foreshadowing than a simple joke.
The second clue came from a now-deleted tweet from the Ubisoft Twitter account, which read: “Now Is Everything.” For those unfamiliar with the series, that tweet mirrors the Watch Dogs slogan of “Everything Is Connected.”
The final, and most critical, clue comes in the form of Sam, Ubisoft’s gaming assistant, which is akin to a publisher-only version of Apple’s Siri or Microsoft’s Cortana AI, focusing on gaming tips and statistic-tracking. Sam is currently only available in Canada, but when YouTube channel UbiCentral asked the programme about Watch Dogs 3 they received a telling answer: “Watch Dogs 3 is not finished yet, but from the last early build I tried it’s very solid. The Dev team works wonders! Can’t wait for you to try it!”
The updated ending of Watch Dogs 2 hinted that the next game in the series will take place in London. As of yet, Ubisoft has not provided an official confirmation regarding Watch Dogs 3, but having these three series-related clues in quick succession implies an announcement is imminent.
