All owners of the originally released Wasteland 2, and backers of the kickstarter campaign, will be receiving a free upgrade to the recently announced Game of the Year Edition, which is set to come out later this year.
This was announced via a recent blog post on inXile Entertainment’s website, which showed off new screenshots and gave some new details about the updates coming to the Game of the Year Edition.
“We wanted to re-affirm our gratitude to our backers and our dedication to RPG fans, as we have been most fortunate to return to our roots,” said Brian Fargo, CEO. “We plan to continue our proud tradition with Bard’s Tale IV, which we’ll crowd-fund later this year.”
Developers inXile Entertainment recently announced the Game of the Year Edition, which will add a ton of new features and improvements to gameplay and visuals. The GOTYE is coming out for PC platforms and is also coming to the PS4 and Xbox One later this year.
Here are some new screenshots showing off the new visuals in the updated version of the game.
Wasteland 2 was originally funded through a Kickstarter campaign back in March 2012, which was a huge success and led to the developers raising nearly three million dollars for the development of the game.
“Wasteland 2 Game of the Year Edition is coming to you free as our way of thanking you for all your support. In an age of paid DLC and micro transactions, we’re thankful that you’ve given us an alternative way to make games we love. We’re very proud of what you’ve helped us accomplish and very happy that our business model is based on mutual trust and support, and this is part of that.”
