Following their previous collaborations on the Blood Bowl series and Space Hulk: Deathwing, Focus Home Interactive and Cyanide Studio have again partnered to create another turn-based game set in the Warhammer 40,ooo universe.
Space Hulk: Tactics will combine the ideas of those previous properties, marrying the turn-based strategy of the former with the derelict space debris setting and combat focus of the latter. As for gameplay, the ruleset is based on that of the Space Hulk board game, first released in 1989, though Tactics’s developer has not delved into the specifics of how that will occur. However, one major change from the classic game is the addition of Cards.
Details on this new system are scarce at the moment, but the developers promise that they offer ways to customise the squad before each match, as well as creating game-changing effects if used at the right time.
Although Space Hulk: Tactics will feature a robust multiplayer complement, it will also contain two separate narrative campaigns. One will put players in the boots of a Blood Angel squad, while the other sees users controlling Genestealers for the first time in any of the numerous Space Hulk video games.
Further details are lacking at present, but more information is set to be divulged at Focus Home Interactive’s Le What’s Next de Focus, which takes place in Paris next week. Space Hulk: Deathwing is currently slated for release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One later this year,
