Aksys Games have announced that a visual novel based on the BlazBlue fighting game series called XBlaze Code: Embryo will be coming to North America this summer.
This upcoming Vita and PS3 title will be set 150 years before BlazBlue and tells the story of Touya Kagari, a high school student who gets attacked without warning and is suddenly thrust into a world of magic. However, Touya is lucky as he has a guardian named Es who has been tasked to ensure his safety.
According to Aksys Games, XBlaze Code will feature a system called “TOi” in which the player’s path will change on what Touya reads in the environment. The game will also have several endings and routes, as well as a gag ending so this game has the potential to offer up plenty of replayability.
If the potential of the game’s plentiful replayability and narrative make you excited, you should also note that XBlaze Code: Embryo was received well by Famitsu who gave the game a 30/40 score (via Gematsu) when it released in Japan last year.
XBlaze Code: Embryo will be blazing into North American store shelves this summer for the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3. No cross buy or cross save plans have been announced as of yet.
