The haunting, minimalist melodies of the Last of Us will be getting the most peculiar re-release this month. On July 22, the Last of Us’ acclaimed soundtrack, including music from the Left Behind DLC, will receive a vinyl release, allowing hipsters everywhere to argue whether the tunes sounds better on CD (or rather, mp3) or on vinyl.

Hint: it’ll sound better on vinyl.

The critically-acclaimed PS3 title Last of Us released in the summer of 2013 and received a remastered release last summer. The soundtrack was composed by Gustavo Santolalla. The Last of Us was Santolalla’s first foray into video game composing, having previously written scores for Hollywood movies including Brokeback Mountain, Babel, and Into the Wild.

The Last of Us Soundtrack was originally released on iTunes in 2013 and re-released in 2014 to include songs from the Left Behind DLC. The soundtrack received that Excellence in Musical Score award at the 2014 SXSW Gaming Awards as well as several other award nominations.

The vinyl re-release will feature cover art by Olly Moss and Jay Shaw.

The vinyl release of The Last of Us’ soundtrack will be on July 22, but supplies will be limited. No start time was set for the sale and it was suggested to follow the seller, Mondo, on Twitter or their website in order to get your copy as soon as it becomes available.
