Following the success of Until Dawn many had assumed Supermassive Games would immediately start working on a sequel. That doesn’t seem to be the case, however.

In a recent interview with Gameindustry.biz, Managing Director of Supermassive Games Pete Samuels told the outlet that the studio is not currently working on Until Dawn 2.

“There’s a lot of speculation about what we’re doing and what we’re working on right now,” Samuels said. “We’re not working on Until Dawn 2 at the moment. We’re working on other things.”

Supermassive is continuing development on their upcoming VR title, Rush of Blood, but outside of that, whatever the studio is working on is unrelated to the Until Dawn franchise. The studio’s next game will be a multiplatform title as the studio no longer has an exclusivity contract with Sony.

“We really want to push to bring those experiences, those cinematic storytelling narrative-driven games, be it horror or not, to other platforms as well,” Samuels told Gameindustry. “The switch kind of came with the success of Until Dawn. It’s, ‘Okay, we’ve achieved a stepping stone,’ and it is only a stepping-stone towards, what we want to be as a studio and as a developer.”

We probably won’t see the next game that Supermassive is working on for quite some time, but you can be sure we’ll keep an eye on the status of their games. Follow OnlySP on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date with whatever Supermassive reveals next.
