We’re slowly but surely heading into the main video game release window, the time of year where we see the massive AAA titles battle it out for that all important #1 spot on charts around the globe.

This past week, GFK Chart-Track has revealed that Blizzard’s Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls which released for all major platforms has firmly taken the top spot away from the PlayStation 4 exclusive The Last of Us: Remastered which slumped down to 2nd for the week ending 23rd August 2014.

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare which had previously been a Microsoft platform exclusive has finally seen its PlayStation release in Europe, claiming 3rd on the charts, followed closely by Mojang/4J Studios’ Xbox 360 edition of Minecraft dropping one place down to 4th.

Overall, it seems to of been an incredibly successful week for Sony when it comes to the games released on its two main platforms, occupying 4 of the top 5 places. It’s only a matter of time before these charts become even more heated as blockbuster titles such as Destiny, Sunset Overdrive and Forza Horizon 2 are just around the corner.
