Apple Arcade

During Apple’s Special Event on September 10, the company announced two new exclusive games for Apple Arcade, its subscription gaming service.

The first game is Konami’s Frogger in Toy Town, developed by Q-Games, best known the PixelJunk series.

Benjamin Kinney, brand manager at Konami, demonstrated the game on stage. He described the game as similar to classic Frogger, with mini obstacles in the way. However, players will now be able to find power-ups. The physics have also been improved, with Kinney mentioning that the blocks bob up and down when the player jumps on them.

Capcom also announced Shinsekai: Into the Depths. Capcom producer Peter Fabiano noted that the world’s surface is covered in ice and as the world’s last survivor, the players will have to be careful as they traverse the new underwater world. Players will also need to watch their oxygen, health, and depth levels, as well as search for resources while avoiding terrifying creatures. Fabiano said that the studio recorded music and sound effects underwater to immerse the player.

Also demonstrated was Sayonara Wild Hearts, which will also be available on the Nintendo Switch.

Apple Arcade will launch on September 19 for USD $4.99 per month with 100 games at launch.
