Fade to Silence, a new survival game from publisher THQ Nordic will be available on Steam Early Access next week, December 14.

Announced (a little prematurely) at The Game Awards, Fade to Silence is a “complex, character-driven, group survival experience” set in a “post-apocalyptic, frozen wasteland” where players need to gather resources for survival. Players will assume control of Ash, a “natural but tormented leader” forced to survive a harsh winter.

Players must strategically use the game’s dynamic weather system, including snow displacement for both players and NPCs, to survive against the Eldritch monsters they will encounter, as well as the game’s greatest foe: the cold weather itself. The game’s official description states that “while freezing temperatures constantly take their toll on the player Ash, the deadliest event is that of a blizzard. If caught by surprise, it takes every ounce of skill, determination and luck to survive.”

In development by Black Forest Games, the game will be available on Steam Early Access on December 14, with console releases planned at final launch.

Rhain Radford-Burns
Rhain discovered a long time ago that mixing one of his passions (video games) with the other (writing) might be a good idea, and now he’s been stuck in the industry for over six years with no means of escaping. His favourite games are those with deep and captivating narratives: while it would take far too long to list them all, some include L.A. Noire, Red Dead Redemption (and its sequel), Wolfenstein: The New Order, The Last of Us, and the Uncharted series.
