The Wolf Among Us 2

One of the big surprises from The Game Awards 2019 was that The Wolf Among Us 2 has returned to active development, but this rebooted project is entirely new.

According to Jamie Ottilie, CEO of the revived Telltale Games, speaking to USGamer, the team has “completely restarted” the project, with the intention being to “give the new creative team a clean slate to start with.”

A part of that will involve a switch from Telltale’s proprietary engine to Unreal Engine 4.

The original Telltale Games collapsed in late 2018, resulting in the immediate termination of almost 300 employees and a cancellation of at least three high-profile projects, including The Wolf Among Us 2. The company was brought back, though with a significantly reduced staff count and the involvement of few original team members, early this year, a revival criticised by some as exploitative.

The Wolf Among Us 2 is being co-developed by AdHoc Studio, a small team that comprises several former members of Telltale. The game is currently without a release date, though is slated to launch on consoles and PC (via Epic Games Store).
