The company revealed the new project at a special event held in San Francisco, where it gathered together 300 users of its ARG Tender—a mock social and dating app.
The supposed president of Tender, Malcolm Chandler, was interrupted during a presentation with a promise to reveal “the terrifying truth” behind the app.
After a lengthy speech, the stream ‘glitched’, with Chandler being set upon by people dressed as vampires before the presentation began
Although the trailer was pre-rendered, the vertical slice showed off first person gameplay of parkour and physical and supernatural combat.
The game will be a direct sequel to Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, developed by Seattle-based Hardsuit Labs (Blacklight: Retribution).
Members of the development team also spoke about how the game will capture the feel of Bloodlines, though set in Seattle. One of the key talking points is how reactive the world will be, with conversations reportedly changing the way the world works.
Other key goals are empowering the player and ensuring the feeling of being a vampire, rather than an ordinary human.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will release in Q1 2020 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
