Just a few days from The Surge’s official release, Deck13 Interactive has released a launch trailer for the game ahead of time.

The trailer shows the story’s protagonist battling against mechanized humans and machines in some sort of ominously ambiguous factory. At the end of the trailer, after combatting various types of enemies, an enormous machine rises from the facility’s depths, hinting at the utilization of boss battles. Watch the full trailer below.

The Surge is an action RPG developed by Deck13 Interactive and published by Focus Home Interactive. Set in a dystopian future, players will take control of a cybernetically enhanced character as they embark on a journey of survival in a world where technology has far surpassed humanity’s evolution. Gameplay features elements found in the Rise of the Robots and Souls video game series. In combat, players may target individual limbs of enemy combatants in an effort to sever said limbs and gather new equipment and resources to enhance the player-character’s armor and weapons.

Development for The Surge began in August 2015. The first concept art and pre-alpha gameplay footage was released to the public in March 2016. The Surge is powered by the FLEDGE engine, which was developed from scratch by Deck13 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Deck13 Interactive is an independent video game developer based in Frankfurt, Germany. Founded in 2001, the company is best known for adventure games, such as Ankh, Ankh: Heart of Osiris, and Jack Keane.

The Surge is scheduled to release on May 15, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Be sure to check out OnlySP’s The Surge review on May 16, 2017.
