Electronic Arts’s popular life-simulation game The Sims 4 is coming to consoles this autumn.
On July 26, 2017, Electronic Arts announced a console release of its massively popular Sims 4 title. Previously available only for PC/Mac users, the Sims 4 console version has a worldwide release date of November 17, 2017, for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.
Players can preorder their copy of the game on EA’s website, and doing so will net them bonus items for use in the game. Pre-ordering a base copy of the game will grant users a digital code, which will allow them to download The Sims 4 Perfect Patio Stuff, a bundle containing hot tubs, more fashion choices, and bonus home décor. A pre-order of The Sims 4 Deluxe Party Edition will net gamers the aforementioned ‘Patio Stuff’ as well as three days of early access to the full game and several other digital content bundles. In addition, the Deluxe Party Edition includes the ‘Awesome Animal Hats’ digital content, which features a collection of fun animal hats for Sims to wear around town.
One of the best-selling video games series of all time, the Sims franchise has captivated fans for almost twenty years with creative, inclusive, and open-ended gameplay. Players create and control unique virtual people (the eponymous Sims), building homes and pursuing careers and relationships, while experiencing all of life’s ups and downs along the way.
Developed by Electronic Arts subsidiary EA Maxis (SimCity, Spore), the Sims series was first conceived in 1991 after game designer Will Wright lost his home to a fire and had to rebuild his life. Released in February 2000, the original Sims went on to sell over 16 million copies worldwide, surpassing Myst as the best-selling PC game in history. This legacy of popularity continued with The Sims 2, The Sims 3, The Sims 4, and many other spin-offs and expansion packs.
