The Red Lantern, a story-driven adventure game with rogue-like elements by Timberline Studio, was announced at today’s Nindies Showcase.
Follow the story of a Musher, she and her pack of sled dogs train for the gruelling Iditarod Race. With rogue-like elements weaved into the story-driven nature of The Red Lantern, the developer states that hundreds of events can occur. The player must tend to their dogs, mend their wounds, and hunt just to survive in the deadly Alaskan landscape.
The trailer reveals very little about the history of the main protagonist. The only aspect revealed about her personality is the fact that she is regarded as a disappointment, which alludes to a much deeper story.
However, her motives are clear: get a van, fill it with dogs, and win Iditarod Race. Her plans are foiled when she misjudges the danger of the Alaskan wilderness and now must use her wits and courage to survive and find a way back home.
The Red Lantern is set to release on the Nintendo Switch later this year. Check out the trailer below:
