The recent Twitter activity of The Last of Us writer and creative director Neil Druckmann may reveal a cast member for the upcoming television adaptation.
On Twitter, Druckmann recently ‘liked’ a tweet from actress Kaitlyn Dever regarding her performance in the 2013 film Short Term 12 alongside Brie Larson.
Earlier this month, HBO announced that a television adaptation of The Last of Us was in the planning stages, with Druckmann joining Chernobyl producer Craig Mazin to write and executive produce the series. Since the announcement, many have given their casting suggestions for the characters.
Dever has been a popular choice for the role of Ellie, so Druckmann’s recent Twitter activity has led to more speculation regarding Dever’s casting. Druckmann and developer Naughty Dog also follow Dever on Twitter.
However, Dever played Cassie in Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (2016), so her affiliation with Druckmann and Naughty Dog may be related to that role, as opposed to the upcoming television show.
Druckmann recently threw shade at video game movie adaptations, possibly referring to the upcoming Uncharted film and the canned The Last of Us movie adaptation.
Part II will launch for PlayStation 4 on May 29, 2020. For more coverage of the game, check out OnlySP’s exclusive interview with Troy Baker discussing his return in playing Joel.
