One game Playstation 3 gamers have been eagerly waiting for has been stuck in an infinite loop of development hell since it was first announced at E3 in 2009. Of course the game I am talking about is The Last Guardian from Team Ico, the team behind the incredible and beloved Shadow of the Colossus on the PS2.  There has been a lot of drama regarding this title, including the departure of the games Designer/Director Fumito Ueda for reasons that Sony refused to comment on.

Indeed it seemed as though we would never see The Last Guardian. Playstation fans should rejoice however as Kotaku reports that Sony’s Japan Studio’s Allan Becker – formerly of Sony Santa Monica – says that The Last Guardian “is moving in the right direction.”

On taking over Direction of The Last Guardian and Ueda staying on as a consultant, Becker had the following to say. “We’re real-time in that process, and we don’t necessarily agree with each other—Fumito Ueda and I—about process. In some sense, I sort of… implemented change, which, I think, is causing some concern and consternation. But, once again, I think the benefit will come through. We’re still going through that phase of adjustment and finding the right balance and groove.”

Hopefully this means great things for The Last Guardian. We will keep you updated as more news of The Last Guardian is revealed.
