Tales of Xillia 2, originally released in November 2012 for PlayStation 3, has been rumoured for a PlayStation 4 port following a leak from Swiss store CeDe.
The store page is light on any exciting information, other than the unsurprising development that the title will be coming to PlayStation 4. The Tales of series, other than Tales of Vesperia‘s flirtation with Microsoft in 2008, has remained a Sony staple, with several entries also appearing on Nintendo platforms and, more recently, PCs.
Oddly enough, the original Tales of Xillia is not involved in this possible Xillia 2 port, which is a curious decision seeing as the two games were released in quick succession (2011 and 2012, respectively). Potentially, both Xillia games may be coming to PlayStation 4 in a bundle, as releasing the sequel without the predecessor makes little to no sense.
Xillia 2 was not necessarily a popular iteration of the Tales formula, receiving mixed reviews from critics and fans. The project’s predecessor, Xillia, impressed OnlySP’s David D. Nelson following the title’s Western release in 2013.
