According to the Night Dive Studios’ Facebook page, their new System Shock remake will be coming to Kickstarter on June 29. Very little detail about the Kickstarter campaign was released other than a short teaser trailer that flashes the title System Shock Remastered.

Night Dive Studios is a company that specializes in optimizing classic games for re-release on Steam and GOG. They have released enhanced versions of games like Turok, Shadow Man, and Putt Putt. Interestingly enough they have already made improved versions of both System Shock and System Shock 2.

But System Shock Remastered is a highly polished recreation of the original game. Footage released last March shows alpha footage that recreates the cyberpunk classic in the Unity engine.

Originally developed by Looking Glass Studios, System Shock is a first-person action role-playing game that came out in 1994. Taking place in a heavily cyber-punk themed world System Shock is a cult classic that has a spot in several hall of fame lists. It would go on to inspire franchise like Bioshock and Deus Ex, both of which are considered spiritual successors to System Shock.

Night Dive Studios is also working on a sequel to the System Shock series, System Shock III, with help from Deus Ex creator Warren Spector and Otherside Entertainment.

We will definitely be keeping track of this one, so keep an eye on the OnlySP Facebook and Twitter as more info becomes available. Let us know what you think about the news in the comments below.
