the surge 2

The Surge 2 just got a new gameplay walkthrough showcasing some of the benefits of dismembering enemies.

Developer Deck13 Interactive revealed the dismembering combat system in the new gameplay walkthrough narrated by Deck13’s head of design, Adam Hetenyi. The video comes shortly after creative director Jan Klose discussed enemies and level design.

The enriched combat mechanics allow the player to target specific enemy body parts during combat.

“This is something you’ll do a lot, fight enemies, chop off body parts, and use that equipment to make yourself stronger, faster, and better equipped.”

Also shown off are the improved bosses fights within the stunning scenery of Jericho City. Hetenyi also added that players will need to targeting body parts of bosses whether it’s to break down armour or dismember boss weapons like a giant nanotech club.

The improved combat also includes a new feature of directional blocking which is bound to be an imperative skill, allowing players to emerge themselves into fight scenes. The Surge 2 has more character customization, bigger weapons, with a with axe in hand, more implants, and more armor sets, meaning the player character is fully customisable.

The walkthrough provides a meaty look of the sci-fi, post-apocalyptic Jericho City, which is a noted as a “city under quarantine.” Overall, the video shows different types of missions, characters, enemies, and weapons players will be encountering over the course of their adventure as well as the brand new features like asynchronous multiplayer and drones.

The Surge 2 will release for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One September 24, 2019.
