Thus far, Insomniac’s Xbox One exclusive Sunset Overdrive has been shadowed by the launch titles Ryse: Son of Rome and Forza 5, to say nothing of the hotly anticipated TitanFall, but with the confirmation of a 2014 release, that is likely to change in the near future. Said confirmation came in the latest Xbox Wire post, and was later corroborated by the development studio via Twitter.

Although we haven’t yet seen any gameplay footage, the announcement trailer showed off a stylised shooter featuring parkour taken to an extreme. It is threaded with hints of Insomniac’s knack for offering inventive (and awesome) weaponry, as well as the studio’s trademark humour. Above all else, it looks like it will be an absolute blast to play, and it has long since been announced that it will feature an offline campaign, allaying the fears of those that were worried by the apparent online focus hinted at by the trailer. Now all we need is some in-game footage and a release date.
