Sudden Strike 4, the newest addition to the franchise being developed by KITE Games, now has two official release dates as announced by the game’s publisher, Kalypso Media.

Sudden Strike 4 will be launching on PC worldwide on August 11, 2017. A PlayStation 4 version will be releasing in Europe and North America on August 11 and 15 respectively.

Along with the announcement, Kalypso Media released part three of the “General’s Handbook” series on YouTube. The series shows footage of basic gameplay mechanics and strategy principles players can utilize in Sudden Strike 4. The videos also discuss how Sudden Strike 4 has evolved during the development process. Watch all three videos at the bottom of the page.

Sudden Strike 4 is the first standalone entry in the series since 2007. The game will offer three campaigns spanning over twenty different missions. Players will also choose from nine different commanders for their battles, including General Patton. The commander system will give players bonuses to either infantry, armor, or air power. Company of Heroes 2 used a similar system in its skirmish battles. The PC version of the game will include “extensive modding support with Steam Workshop integration.”

Multiplayer battles will also be featured in Sudden Strike 4, where players can pit their commanders against those of others.

Sudden Strike is a series of real-time strategy games that takes place in World War II. The series debuted in 2000. Throughout the series, players have been able to take control of German, Allied, and Soviet forces using infantry, tanks, and artillery to accomplish varying objectives across different landscapes in both Europe and Japan. Differing from other RTS games, Sudden Strike focuses mostly on the use of tactics rather than resource-gathering and base-building.
