Madmind Studio’s follow-up to Agony, SUCCUBUS, recently received its first gameplay reveal video—and it is quite a shocking sight.
In June, the game’s official “selfie trailer” was released, laying the groundwork for raw, brutal, and inappropriately-themed gameplay. However, that was just a peek into how dark SUCCUBUS truly gets.
The gameplay video starts with the player assuming the role of the Red Goddess, in third-person, eventually advancing into a first-person combat mode, stabbing and cutting demon spawn in half with what appears to be a pair of spikes.
The reveal becomes even more barbaric as the Red Goddess traverses through the cavern, stomping upon small infants before approaching a bound, nude female. What occurs next is perhaps the most reprehensible part of the video—readers will have to watch and see for themselves (below).
The game’s combat seems to take place entirely in first-person view. Occasionally, the Red Goddess makes use of some sort of pyrokinesis to set enemies ablaze, possibly eluding to the inclusion of magical abilities as a combat mechanic.
At around 8:40 into the gameplay is the first sex scene, which can only be described as a 10-second romping before the Red Goddess swipes her male partner across the face and decides she is finished.
It is not until 10:40 into the video that viewers can see the first glimpse of a weapon selection UI, as the player selects a scythe. After, a massive culling of demon spawn ensues, showing off the new weapon.
The video ends with the Red Goddess approaching a lair where a large, topless, six-armed, and horned demoness is discovered—a character reminiscent of Sheeva from Mortal Kombat. She faces the player, showing large cuts all down the front of her body, shrieks, and the video comes to an end.
The reveal contains high-impact horror themes, extreme violence, sex, and nudity.
The gameplay is less polished than what fans saw in the gameplay concept trailer, which OnlySP covered in December of last year, but it is promising to see 13 minutes of full, uncut gameplay. OnlySP’s Damien Lawardorn also interviewed the developer of SUCCUBUS regarding the failures of its last game, Agony.
SUCCUBUS currently has no release date, but players will eventually be able to download it on PC via Steam.
