Oculus has shown off a new trailer for Insomniac’s upcoming VR adventure Stormland, focusing on the glorious world that players will explore.

The new trailer for the VR action-adventure (embedded below) details an open world complete with ever-changing environments, unexplored islands, dangerous strongholds, and rare technology.

Insomniac Games has years of industry experience especially from previous titles including Ratchet & Clank and Sunset Overdrive. However, Stormland will benefit from new combat, movement, and mechanics to provide players with the tools to discover a mysterious civilization.

The story’s protagonist will be a peaceful gardener whose android body gets shattered by an event known as The Tempest. After lying dormant for centuries, the character will begin a journey through a landscape in the clouds, become a heroic fighter, save friends, and reclaim the world above.

In the game, players explore an expansive environment with complete freedom. Players can utilise new movement mechanics like binding up cliffs, gliding across chasms, and flying through the slipstream at near-terminal velocity. Furthermore, players will need to detonate explosives, harness electricity, and wield makeshift weapons to overcome titanium sentries and monolithic guardians.

Stormland will be by far one of Insomniac Games’s most ambitious VR games, with a release scheduled for later in 2019.
