Undead Labs, the developers of State of Decay, want you to feel different about the average soldier who is typically the bad guy in zombie based stories.

In their eyes, “the military is made up of many good men and women who stand on the line that divides safety and civilization from chaos and war” and as you control Greyhound One, a small unit trying to survive, it is up to you to decide their fate in a new piece of DLC announced for State of Decca.

Under your lead, you are sent to the lost city of Danforth, a new location in State of Decay, to rescue scientists who have critical research and knowledge that could subdue the outbreak. However, your team is another priority as resources can be depleted over time, and will not be replenished.

In State of Decay: Lifeline, Undead Labs have added new features to the initial game such as a base system. For the entirety of your mission, you must protect your main base which can be upgraded and defended with minefields and other resources. You can also place certain soldiers in each weak point. This is Greyhound One’s main fortress which allows for supply drops to be made, and civilians to be rescued. If you fail to defend the base, it can be overrun by zombies, and the civilians you are tasked to save will die. If you allow too many to fall, it is game over for Greyhound One.

Undead Labs will be sharing more on the features of this new expansion in the coming weeks including  the characters, the military facilities and defenses, the map of Danforth, military hardware, and many other surprises. No release date has been revealed for State of Decay: Lifeline. When we hear more on this expansion, we will be sure to keep you up to date.

    1. ‘State of Decay’ was a random find for me. I ended up getting carried away with the screenshot scavenger hunt and actually won the game. I had never played arcade titles on the 360 before and frankly thought I would most likely not end up liking it.

Then I started playing and I just fell in love. I’ve played it more than 3-4 times, trying new things each time. I love how non-military it is and how realistic it feels as a zombie apocalypse survival setting, so I cannot say the army element of the expansion is encouraging, but since they say they are going for the humanity in soldiers, rather than the brainless stylized machismo one most games go for, I feel inclined to give it a chance.

      Can’t wait to know more.
