State of Decay 2 was revealed at the Microsoft E3 2016 press conference and for the moment, was assumed to be a multiplayer-only title, but luckily for us, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

In a post from Jeff Strain of Undead Labs, it has been confirmed that you will be able to play State of Decay 2 as a single player title with the option of drop-in, drop-out cooperative play.

State of Decay 2 builds upon the unique blend of open-world exploration, third-person action, and survival-fantasy role playing we pioneered in the original State of Decay, and then adds drop-in cooperative multiplayer. The world of State of Decay 2 is larger, more dangerous, and more unpredictable than ever, so if you choose, you can put your survival plan to the test with up to three other players.

As with the original State of Decay, the world will remember the choices you make and form a unique experience every time you play. Alone or with friends, dynamic game systems for character progression, base building, leadership promotion, and consequence-driven storytelling will result in a dramatic experience that tests your will to survive.

You can bet on us getting in contact with Undead Labs soon to talk more about State of Decay 2 and how they’re improving upon the original game. Check out the reveal trailer for State of Decay 2 at the bottom of the article and let us know what you think of it in the comments section.

State of Decay 2 is coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 in 2017.
