We still don’t know for sure what the status is of Star Wars 1313. After the news broke yesterday of Disney closing down LucasArts, speculation ran crazy about the fate of the game. Some outlets were reporting that the game was officially canceled. Others, us included, were hearing that there was ‘A New Hope’ (see what I did there?) as it were that the title would live on. What we can agree on though, is that the game looked fantastic and pretty much everyone was clamoring to learn more about it. Well, if it is indeed canceled, we have more reason now than ever to be supremely disappointed – Star Wars 1313 was shifted focus and became a Boba Fett game.

Kotaku made the reveal about Fett’s ill-fated adventure earlier today. Their sources tell them chances are “very slim” that the title will be licensed out to another developer. The games development had actually ceased last year as the developers couldn’t quite reign in the project. Kotaku’s source was quoted as saying “they ended up with movie tech that wouldn’t fit in a game, and game tech that wouldn’t fit in a movie. 1313 was always in danger of not being made.”

It’s been a sad twenty-four hours for the LucasArts family, and as industry fans in general. Take a look at the concept art below (the above image is from the Star Wars comic) to see what we all missed out on.

Jeff Scott
A life long Nintendo fan and lover of all things games, Jeff Scott, couldn't be more excited to be writing for OnlySP. When he isn't working the dreaded 9 to 5, he enjoys catching up on movies, great television, and oh yeah - family time when he can fit it in (kidding, honey!). He hopes to blossom from occasional to full time writer at some point. If he doesn't embarrass himself on this site first...
