Square Enix revealed today that it plans on seeking indie developers to continue some of their older IP’s from Eidos including Gex, Fear Effect, and Anachronox. Potential crowdfunding platforms such as Kickstarter are being considered for the campaign.

The collective platform was announced last year to include different steps on reviving the properties, by having different studios pitch ideas to continue the licenses. Developers are planned to get 80% of the revenue from the process and even ownership of the IP if successful.

Black the Fall, is the first example of success to come out of the program to reach its Kickstarter goal and has entered Steam early access. I’m real excited about this program as I’m a huge fan of both the Gex series and Fear Effect.
