Spyro the Dragon

Journalists over at IGN have recieved a mystery package in the mail that appears to foreshadow the return of Spyro the Dragon.

The package was addressed from ‘Falcon McBob’ who, after a cursory Google search, only turns up on Twitter with the handle @SpyroTheDragon, which is a very on-the-nose hint.

In addition to this Twitter clue, the contents of the package offer a more explicit hint that a new Spyro title is on the way. The contents are a purple dragon egg accompanied by a card that reads: “Something’s about to hatch.”

Of course, the whole package could have been an expensive April Fools’ joke, but the presence of the Spyro remaster rumours that broke last month is all a little too convenient for this situation to be merely jest.

Hypothetically, the Spyro reveal could be anything from a new mainline title to a complete remake. Most likely, the potential release will mirror 2016’s Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, so players can hedge their bets on a remaster as opposed to a new addition to the Spyro franchise.
