The highly anticipated, but reportedly beleaguered, Atomic Heart will have extensive weapon modding that fundamentally affects the gameplay.
In a recent Facebook post, the development team Mundfish outlined the way that players will be able to customise their experience.
Notably, weapons will be modular, with the player able to find recipes and crafting items to alter its stats. Examples provided include wrapping an axe handle in electrical tape to increase its durability.
In terms of the ranged arsenal, each facet can be upgraded, from the sights to the clip size and more.
As an action RPG, Atomic Heart promises a diverse experience that demands players adjust to their situations. In addition to the options enabled by a wide selection of highly customisable weaponry, an earlier Facebook post states that stealth is “is very important and more profitable.”
The game’s most recent gameplay trailer dropped early this year, showing off some impressive design across the environment, visuals, and combat alike. A more recent cinematic trailer is embedded below.
For those unaware, Atomic Heart takes place in a Soviet Russia that survived beyond the Cold War, enabling a technological revolution. In this world, players enter a vast laboratory facility as a KGB officer reporting on what has happened.
