With the release of Injustice: Gods of Among Us yesterday, it seems fitting to highlight a song from a fighting game for Soundtrack Spotlight. Today’s track is from Killer Instinct, Rareware’s 1994 fighter that has since become a cult classic.

Titled “The Instinct”, this song acts as the main theme for the game. It’s a song so unabashedly steeped in guitar riffs and high-pitched ‘wails’ that it’s hard not to think of anything but the 90’s when listening. It may be a bit on the cheesy side nowadays, but it sure does get one’s fighting spirits up. Let us know what you think!

The track was composed by Graeme Norgate, who has also scored games such as Goldeneye, Perfect Dark the Timesplitters series, Haze and more. You can check out his official site here.
