Sony has provided more information on the PlayStation 5’s backwards compatibility, suggesting that some PlayStation 4 titles might not be playable on the new system.

In a statement to Japanese publication Famitsu, translated by user BlackKite on Twitter, a Sony representative stated that the PS5 “dev team is putting all power on verifying whether they can secure a complete compatibility. Please wait for more information.”

What “complete compatibility” means in this case is difficult to say. As backwards compatibility has only been confirmed for PS4 titles so far, however, Sony could be suggesting that not all of the previous system’s games will be compatible with the PS5.

The statement is vague and still does not answer other questions about PS5 backwards compatibility. Hopefully, Sony will reveal more information soon.
