Just yesterday, we reported that Electronic Arts had announced EA Access for Xbox One. This came as a surprise to many, including me, and had me wondering why Sony did not try to secure EA Access for the PlayStation 4. Well, according to a spokesperson for Sony speaking to Game Informer, Sony passed on EA Access.

We evaluated the EA Access subscription offering and decided that it does not bring the kind of value PlayStation customers have come to expect.

On top of this, Sony, according to the spokesperson, did not believe in asking  PlayStation 4 customers to spend more money for EA Access.

We don’t think asking our fans to pay an additional $5 a month for this EA-specific program represents good value to the PlayStation gamer.

What do you think? Was Sony right to pass on EA Access? Let us know in the comments.
