I often forget that Shovel Knight was once a Kickstarter, it is just that good. Now, over a month after its critically acclaimed release developer Yacht Club Games is seeing the fruit of their labor. Earlier this week the developer announced that Shovel Knight has sold 180,000 copies. This came a shock to them, as they though they would never reach these numbers ever.

After the Kickstarter project ended, we all discussed our sales goals.  The number that most of us settled upon was….when all was said and done, 150,000 copies sold in total.

Yacht Club Games also shared the struggles the company overcame to create the game.

We ended up operating for five months without money or payments to the team here.
