Shenmue I

The Shenmue I & II remasters have been given an official release date of August 21 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

The news came via the project’s new trailer, which shows off some of the title’s up-scaled graphics and textures. Overall, the game looks mighty smooth running on current hardware:

Shenmue originally debuted on Sega Dreamcast in 2000, with the sequel landing in 2001. The long-awaited Shenmue III showed up on Kickstarter in 2015, with 2019 being the likely release date. The remaster package serves as a re-entry point, as well as a chance for people who missed the Shenmue boat to catch-up on the wonderfully idiosyncratic action-adventure.
