Session will finally launch on Steam Early Access next month, four years after it first made waves.
Fans of Skateboarding games have only really had either the Skate or Tony Hawk series to choose between. However, September will see the release of Session; a new skateboarding sim which aims to deliver a more realistic experience.
Session first appeared on Steam Greenlight in 2015. In 2017, it was funded on Kickstarter, where Montreal-based Creā-ture Studios pitched it as a no-nonsense tribute to skateboarding culture that dominated much of the ’90s and early 2000s.
One of the most intruiging aspects is the control mechanism whereby each analog stick represents the weight and movement of each foot. This mechanic may make Session into one of the most technically challenging skateboarding games available:
“In Session each stick represents your feet. From there, every skateboard is your instruction manual. Just think about how you would move your feet or transfer your weight while on a skateboard and apply that to the sticks,” the official Kickstarter page reads.
Session is releasing on Steam Early Access on September 17, 2019.
