Just a couple weeks ago we reported that during an interview with IGN, a Telltale’s spokesperson let them know that we wouldn’t have to wait too much longer to get back into their version of The Walking Dead, hinting at more content coming to players before the second season is released.

“I can tell you what you already know, which is season two is coming. There’s not much to say because it really is very early…it’s a way off,” said Whitta. “But, knowing that it’s a way off, and knowing that people are hungry for more walking Dead…there may very well be more Walking Dead from Telltale before season two. We may have a little something extra for you between season one and two.” Whitta continued to tease that something is in the works right now “that will make the wait for season two slightly less agonizing.”

However, according to a news story on IGN today, it appears the wait isn’t as long as we expected it to be. Speaking to Dan Connors of Telltale games during an interview with Eurogamer, Connor’s originally told them that the next season is looking at a 2014 release date. Today he retracted that statement, telling IGN that the next season of The Walking Dead (Season 2) will be aiming for a Fall 2013 release.

“The current estimated release window for Season Two of The Walking Dead is for Fall of ‘this’ year (2013), and not ‘next’ year (2014) as has been reported after a recent interview. We apologize for any confusion and thank you and all of our fans for your continued excitement for the series!”

The Walking Dead took our Game of the Year award last year for its outstanding story and characters and we’re just as excited to see what’s to come from the second season of Telltale’s Walking Dead. I certainly went into the game not expecting much, but got instantly hooked and is now on my list of top 10 favorite games of all time. It’ll be very interesting to see where they take Clementine next. Stay tuned for more news on Season 2 of TellTale’s Walking Dead as it comes in!

  1. I still haven’t played the first one. I heard very great things about it, so as soon as school ends I’m getting it.
