Update: Ni no Kuni II‘s new DLC has been confirmed for a simultaneous worldwide release, though it will be called ‘The Tale of a Timeless Tome’ in English-speaking countries.
Players will gain access to the new content after staying a night at the Goldpond Inn. Alongside the new story content, it will expand on the available battle methods by adding in “Martha’s Method” and the “Wizard’s Companion,” as well as including a new battle location called the Solosseum Slog
Original Story: An update to Ni no Kuni II‘s home page has provided the first details on the JRPG’s second major DLC drop.
Set to arrive on March 19 and called ‘Wizard’s Book’ (according to a Google translation), the new episode will reveal the “‘devil'” that drives the king crazy. That synopsis provides few details, but access to the DLC will be enabled from the beginning of Chapter 5 from the main game.
Evan’s guide throughout the game will be The Conductor, who provided post-game content in the original Ni no Kuni.
Screenshots of the update also hint that Evan will visit the home of the first game’s protagonist Oliver at some point in the DLC.
Whether this new content will receive a simultaneous worldwide release is not yet certain, as Bandai Namco has not yet made any announcements in English.
‘Wizard’s Book’ follows the earlier ‘The Lair of the Lost Lord’ DLC, which introduced a labyrinth with additional quests and items. The new DLC will also expand on that earlier content, adding new battlefields and rewards.
OnlySP’s review of Ni no Kuni II scored it as a Distinction, calling it “an incredibly powerful title that has the potential to appeal to people from all walks of life.”
