Developer Damage State has introduced the sci-fi FPS action title Scathe for 2020 release.

According to the game’s Steam page “Scathe is bringing the 90’s FPS back to the future and giving it Hell.”

The title is a challenging, intense, and explicitly bloody first-person shooter indie title, described by the studio as a “Hell initiation test”. Damage State also emphasised the outlandish nature of the deadly loaded weapons to shred through hordes of demons.

The game design is a huge maze that players will need to navigate at speed through whilst raining bullets down on demons, aerial Reapers, and difficult bosses. The focused gameplay objective requires players to go trigger-happy on every enemy to survive with all four Hellstones intact.

Players can expect to combat enemies with a range of weapons including a shotgun, explosive disc launcher, and even an “imp spawner.”

The teaser trailer showcases hardcore, fast-paced Doom and Quake style combat against demonic enemies—the Razorbacks and Fleshballs—as well as hellish environmental art design. Check out the trailer below.

Scathe will be available on PC via Steam in 2020.
