A month after cancelling the Early Access release, Human Head Studios has confirmed that its upcoming Viking RPG RUNE II is headed for the Epic Games Store.
Downplayed during the announcement was the revelation that the project now has its third name, following on from the original Rune: Ragnarok and, more recently, simply RUNE.
The game is slated to arrive in summer 2019, resulting in almost a full year’s delay from the initially intended release in September last year. In concert with these announcements, Human Head released a new trailer showing off some of the combat, sailing, and resource-gathering mechanics that players will use:
RUNE II takes place in a world inspired by Norse mythology and locked in the end of days known as Ragnarok. Although the game will employ survival-oriented mechanics, the team is promising a story-driven single-player adventure, with players aiming to take down Loki.
More details about the game, including plenty about the combat and environments, are available in the interview OnlySP conducted with the developers last year.
