Rune II

Just one day after releasing Rune II, Human Head Studios has announced it will be shutting down.

Rune II will be the final project worked on by the team at Human Head after 22 years in the industry. The closure was announced on Human Head’s website.

Community manager Katherine Stull explained that “economic realities” forced the decision to shut down.

However, Human Head reached out to Bethesda Softworks about the possibility of employment for team members. Fortunately, Bethesda offered the entire team positions at a new studio called Roundhouse Studios.

Unfortunately, what this news means for the future of the newly released Rune II is unclear. Nevertheless, on Twitter, the team has pledged to support the game in accordance with a post-launch content strategy after it builds a new development team to do so.

OnlySP’s Damien Lawardorn called Rune II “one of 2019’s biggest surprises” in his Distinction (4/5) review, which is available to read in full here.
