Star Wars

The first story details for Visceral Games’s upcoming third-person Star Wars adventure game have reportedly leaked.

Coming courtesy of Making Star Wars, the information focuses on the main character, a new face in the Star Wars universe named Dodger. The game, currently codenamed Project Ragtag, will reportedly take place between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back and \ deal with the fallout from the destruction of the Death Star from the perspective of the universe’s criminal underworld.

Dodger is originally an inhabitant of Alderaan (the planet destroyed by the Death Star in A New Hope), and finds himself on a list of survivors that the Imperial forces are trying to eliminate. The game reportedly begins with this premise, with Dodger entering the employ of Jabba the Hutt in an attempt to exempt himself from persecution by buying his way off the list. Further plot details are unclear, but the character’s journey reportedly leads him to discover more about the Death Star and his own past.

Although the leak focuses on the story details, the report also makes note of Dodger’s signature weapon, a “light whip/grapple stick” that can be used to grab enemies and lock them in place. The character will also be armed with a blaster pistol. Making Star Wars writes that several variants of these weapons have been designed, but whether those will be included as bonus unlocks or DLC is not clear at the present time.

Project Ragtag is currently in development at Dead Space developer Visceral Games and is being helmed by the writer of the earlier Uncharted games, Amy Hennig. The game will reportedly be a third-person action adventure game. Electronic Arts is currently also working on the first-person shooter sequel, Star Wars: Battlefront II, which adds a single-player campaign to the base of the original game.
