A Resetera user has posted a large list of details seemingly related to the next entry in the Devil May Cry (DMC) series.

The post, started by user Son of Sparda, was uploaded with the title “[LEAK] Massive Devil May Cry 5 Info (Potential heavy spoilers inside!).” Soon, what started as a post on a message board became arguably the most reliable information regarding the future of the DMC franchise available on the internet.

However, the word “reliable” should be taken with a grain of salt, as most of the community has slated the content of the post as a rumor. Nevertheless, some of the post’s highlights are worth noting.

Information on the title, called DMCV by Son of Sparda’s findings, ranges from describing the game as the most ambitious DMC to date, to giving in-depth details on the story campaign. Most interestingly, the game appears to be a direct continuation from DMC4 instead of following 2013’s reboot of the franchise. The post lists Hideaki Itsuno as returning to the position of director of the rumored installment after his absence on Ninja Theory’s DmC: Devil may Cry.

According to the post, the game was originally planned to be unveiled at PSX, but because of Sony’s decision to focus more attention on E3 2018, the announcement was pushed back.

Son of Sparda also explains the game is targeting 60 fps and which voice actors will be playing each of the characters.

Lending credence to the rumor  is that the game falls in line with Capcom’s plans to develop new entries in their franchises every two and a half years, as well as a listing in Capcom’s 2015 annual report that DMC is a pillar of the company’s future strategy.

Itsuno has also been fairly vocal about his upcoming game in the past year, going as far as to send out tweets assuring fans that his next project his coming along nicely. One tweet was after he did not show up to E3, while another apologized when his game was not announced at this year’s TGS. Each time Itsuno made apologizing to fans a point, and he ensured fans that his project is on a smooth path.
