The upcoming Playstation 3 exclusive horror title Until Dawn was initially announced as a Playstation Move title, leading gamers to believe the accessory was mandatory for play. However, this recent rumor indicates the game may in fact be playable with a standard Dualshock controller as well.

An updated version of the game’s boxart was posted on Amazon today, in which the Playstation Move logo at the top-right corner had its subtitle switched from “required” to “compatible”, meaning the PS Move may no longer be the only method of playing the game. You can see the cover art below:

Nothing regarding Dualshock support for the game has been confirmed by Sony or Supermassive Games, so this remains a rumor for now. However, seeing as Puppeteer, another Sony-published PS Move title due out this fall, will have the motion control functionality be completely optional, having the same true of Until Dawn doesn’t seem like a stretch.

Until Dawn will release in late 2013 on the PS3. Let us know if you’re excited!
