Doom 4 has had a development cycle almost as long as that of the Burj Khalifa. Naturally, one would expect id software to finally come out and reveal it. Thanks to a subtle hint in an interview with Gamereactor, that reveal may happen very soon.

Gamereactor recently interviewed id’s Tim Willits in order to talk about the upcoming Doom 3: BFG edition. All was well and good until the interviewer jokingly suggested that the BFG Edition would be a perfect way to prepare gamers for a Doom 4 reveal. Willits began to smirk a bit, and said the following:

“I can’t say for sure,” he said with a smile, “but if we were, it would be a great time to [re-launch the previous Doom games].”

Of course, this is no definitive proof that an announcement is coming. Still, we have a feeling that this is worth speculating on. If further news on Doom 4 lets loose, we’ll be sure to cover it here.

  1. I&#039m hoping Doom 4 is more actiony, Doom 3 had excellent atmosphere, but Doom is more of a shoot everything type of game. 3&#039s story was good though, so 4&#039s should be as well. Funny how this should be more actiony, less horror, unlike Resident Evil.

  2. I loved the feel of Doom 3. Much better then its PC brethen
